Dan Musil is on tour launching his new EP - and Dan Musil plays slide guitar like no one else.
It's the Perfect Pairing with the Mandy Connell Trio featuring double bass from Craig Kelly (Rich Davies and the Low Road) and some kiler Dobro and Banjo from Trev Dwyer (Humbuckin Pickups).
Shared with characteristic humility and love of improvisation, Dan’s music combines haunting instrumental slide guitar pieces with boisterous songs of social satire; traditional Celtic tunes with stomping acoustic blues, lullabies & eucalyptus-infused musical meditations – the provocative and the calming.
Dan’s new solo EP is OUT NOW.

Dan has performed at venues and festivals around Australia and internationally as a solo artist, and as a member/collaborator with artists including Van Walker, Marissa Quigley, Lucy Wise, Anna Smyrk, Jhana Allan, Tim Guy, Lucas Paine, Whoa Mule, Catgut, Power & Greig, Brother Johnstone, The Woolworths Blues Singers and others, has composed music for a number of short films and video projects.
As well as (more often than…) music, Dan is active in projects working for economic democracy, justice and sustainability – including the Earthworker Cooperative.
Connell’s arresting presence is what stands out. Singer and guitarist, she is popular for her writing, and loved for her stagecraft, but it’s her breadth of passion for the broader ‘folk’ genre which makes her unusual in Australia. A songwriter with a guitar, Connell has an edge more reminiscent of Margaret Roadknight or Norma Waterson than of Kate Bush or Joni Mitchell. Having worked with a well-known five piece ‘traditional’ band (Stray Hens) reworking contemporary and trad folk ballads, Connell is at home with big production, but continues to work solo or with simple lineups of bass and drums or bass and lead guitar, presenting her own work locally and Internationally with producers in Melbourne (Luke Plumb, Myles Mumford) and the UK. Recent work with Trev Dwyer and Craig Kelly shows how much work has gone in to the arrangements for her 2026 shows.
